La maison cendrée is a beautiful holiday home in the Meuse Department – more precisely in the North of the Meuse, a few kilometers away from the Belgian border, not far away from the towns of Montmédy, Stenay and Verdun.
After a long search, it was Pascale’s brother Patrick (he lives in the next village) who finally found our “maison de vacances” in the Meuse. It was just a shell and we started the renovation work centered around a “puits de lumière”, or light well, and maintaining the original walls built in “pierre de France”, a golden stone much used in the area, in 2007. It took us two years to complete all the work.

Once this work completed, we realised we did not like very much the idea of our house staying empty during long periods. Why not share it with others? And the idea of a gîte came naturally. It allows us to holiday in our own home and to visit our family.
In our absence, it is Madame Rémy who welcomes guests and also looks after the house for us. She is the person you are most likely to meet.
We hope you enjoy the house as much as we do.
Bonnes vacances!
Pascale, Tony, Arthur and Adelaide
